The design of this particular pair of stools is very simple. The legs are flush with the top, with the joint between the legs and the seat strengthened by humpback stretchers. This design strengthens joint between the legs and top, without adding to the depth of the seat. Uncommon to most stools, these have high humpback stretchers compared to the more usually seen humpback stretcher about a third of the distance from the top of the stool. This is a rarely seen feature that enhances the linear beauty of the legs. The legs finish in a style known as 'horse hoof feet' which adds further strength and elegance to the piece.
